Replace a driver's licence or permit

If your driver's licence, provisional licence or learner's permit is damaged, lost or stolen, you can order a replacement.

What happens next

A new licence or permit will be sent to your recorded residential or postal address within three weeks.

When you apply for a replacement online, you can print out a temporary licence or permit or download your new digital licence or permit immediately using the mySA GOV app. Digital licences and permits displayed in the app are an electronic form of your existing physical licence or permit.

If you have not received the replacement licence within 21 days phone Service SA on 13 10 84. If you don't contact Service SA within 30 days you may need to pay a replacement licence fee.

Licence number

A licence number is also known as a client number. You can find your client number on various documents - eg registration renewal notice, certificate of registration, proof of age card, disability parking permit. If you don't have your licence or client number call Service SA on 13 10 84 for assistance.

Replace when interstate or overseas

If you are temporarily interstate or overseas and need to replace your South Australian driver’s licence, you can do so online if your photograph is still valid.

If you no longer live in South Australia your South Australian licence may no longer be valid. Contact the relevant local licensing authority for requirements on obtaining a driver’s licence.
