Renew online
What you'll need
To renew the right rego online, you'll need to enter either your:
- vehicle's plate number and
- licence or client number
or
- the payment number on your renewal notice.
You'll be able to download the receipt or have it sent to your email.
Fees
Go to vehicle registration fees.
Renew early
- Registration is valid until midnight of the expiry date.
- Registration paid before the expiry date, will start the day after the existing expiry date.
Example: if your rego is due on 26 June, you can drive your vehicle until midnight (11:59 pm) on 26 June.
Renew late
You can still renew your expired registration online.
You'll be given 2 options:
- Renew - your new rego period would start from your last expiry date. You'll pay the same amount on your renewal notice.
- Re-register - your new rego period would start from the day you pay it. An additional $22 will apply. This fee will automatically apply if the vehicle has been unregistered for more than 90 days.
Whether you renew or re-register, the vehicle is still unregistered for the period between the last expiry date and the time of payment.
Example: if your rego was due on 26 May, but you let it expire and renew it on 26 June - we'd recommend you re-register it.
This means if you chose re-register and 3 months, your new expiry date would change to 26 September (instead of 26 August).
Renew with concession
If your concession is:
- already applied to your renewal notice, it will be validated when you renew your rego.
- not applied to your renewal, you'll need to apply for concessions on your registration and driver's licence.

Service SA centre
Take your renewal notice to a Service SA centre. If you don't have your renewal notice, you can verbally provide the vehicle details instead.
Australia Post
If the registration hasn't expired and there are no changes required, you can take your renewal notice to any Australia Post outlet, unless otherwise stated on the notice.
