Switch to email or SMS registration renewals

You can get notifications that your registration is due to your email address or mobile number, instead of receiving paper registration renewal notices by post.

With email or SMS notifications, we'll send you a:

  1. renewal notification 6 weeks before your registration expires
  2. reminder one - 7 days before your registration expires (you can choose your preference)
  3. reminder one day after your registrations expired (if not paid before expiry).

Once you subscribe to email or SMS notifications, you won't get any more paper notices.

Check your spam or junk folder if you don't receive your notifications.

Set up email or SMS renewals

You'll need a mySAGOV account to use this service.

  1. Log in to your mySAGOV account using your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin.
  2. Select Sign up for digital renewal notices in the Digital Renewal Notices section.
  3. Choose your notification preferences.
  4. Select Subscribe.

What happens next

Email or SMS notifications include your payment number and a link to renew your registration online. You won't get any more paper renewals.

After you subscribe, email and SMS notifications apply to all of your vehicles. You can get a mixture of digital and paper by unsubscribing individual vehicles in your account.

If a vehicle is jointly owned, only the primary contact will receive notifications.

Replace your registration certification or receipt

You can download a replacement registration certificate or a copy of your receipt from your account at any time.

Manage your email or SMS renewals

You can manage your notification preferences, update your contact details or unsubscribe at any time.
