When you buy a boat that is currently registered in SA, you must transfer the registration within 14 days.
There is a different process if you buy an unregistered boat.
Transfer online
You can transfer a boat registration online if you have a mySAGOV account.
You'll need:
- the boat's SA registration number
- the seller's SA driver's licence or client number
- the seller's last name
Cost
A transfer fee of $21 will apply.
Reasons you can't transfer online
- the boat is from interstate
- the boat has never been registered before
- a Hull Identification Number (HIN) check is required.
