I submitted a new application but my check is about to expire
If you applied before your current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or NDIS Worker Check expires, you may be eligible to continue working while your new application is being processed, even if your existing check expires. This is called work on re-application.
If you’re a registered teacher, you’re not permitted to work in a teaching position if your WWCC has expired.
Find out from your employer or volunteering organisation if you’re eligible to work on re-application.
My check is about to expire but I haven’t submitted a new application
If you apply before your current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or NDIS Worker Check expires, you may be eligible to continue working while your new application is being processed, even if your existing check expires. To be eligible, you must submit your new application before your current check expires.
If you’re a registered teacher, you’re not permitted to work in a teaching position if your WWCC has expired. Registered teachers are encouraged to apply for their new WWCC 6 months before their current check expires.

Forgot my username or password
When logging into the ScreeningSA portal, your username is not your email address. All usernames end with @workerscreening.sa.gov.au.
If you can’t remember or don’t know your login details, you can recover your username or reset your password through the screening portal.
- Go to the individual portal login page.
- Select Forgot your username/password.
- Follow the prompts to retrieve your username or reset your password.
How to use a student ID card as identity for your screening application
Only use your student photo ID card if you do not have any of the following documents:
- an Australian passport – can be expired up to 3 years
- a foreign passport attached to a current Australian Visa
- an Immicard
- an Australian drivers licence
- a proof of age card.
If you use a student photo ID card, you won't be able to verify your identity online – you'll need to print out a form.
Follow these steps to complete your identity verification with a student photo ID card:
- select student ID card as your photo ID
- select a second document from the lists provided
- select ‘No’ when asked if you have a smartphone
- record document numbers for each piece of ID – for your student photo ID card, record your student number
- download and print the form
- take your original identity documents and form to a verifying officer – find a list of verifying officers in the Help section of your screening account
- when signed by a verifying officer, upload the form into your application and submit.
Tertiary students applying for more than one screening type
If you need more than one type of screening check for an official placement connected to your studies, you only need to pay the fee once if you submit all applications on the same day.
Start and complete the applications one at a time.
Once the first tertiary student screening is paid for and submitted, you'll be able to start another tertiary student application, and no fee will be payable.
If you have 2 or 3 incomplete applications open, pay for one and submit it.
Go to the My Applications tab, cancel the other applications, and start again.
Students doing paid work with children must apply for a check as an employee and pay the relevant fee.
I need help paying for my application
The new online worker screening application uses a secure online payment function. When you go to pay, a pop up may appear. Say yes to allow your browser to open a new window when you go to pay.
After you have paid for your application, you need to return to your application to submit it.
I need help using my screening account
There are step-by-step instructions in the ‘Help’ section of your Screening SA account.
For organisations
Check an applicant’s status
If you’re applying on behalf of an employee or volunteer, you can check their application status through the Organisation Portal.
I can't cancel an application I started
It's important when starting an application for your employee or volunteer that you record their full legal name, date of birth and unique personal email address.
The new system will identity if the person holds an existing clearance or has already started a new application. It will prevent you from creating another one if it finds a record with matching details.
Before starting an application for someone, you must:
- ask their consent to do so
- confirm they have not already started an application themselves.
Organisations can not cancel an application.
If an application needs to be cancelled, you must submit an enquiry to the Screening Unit through the Organisation Portal or call our Customer Service team.
Alternatively, draft applications will automatically cancel after 28 days.
The application fee will not be refunded if consent was not provided or the personal details were incorrect or incomplete.
I started an application now the link in their introductory email has expired
Organisations cannot resend an application link.
If your employee or volunteer tells you they can’t complete their application because the link has expired, direct them to recover their account.
Using the username from the original email, they follow the steps to set a new password.
If they no longer have the original email or do not know their username, it will be a two-step process: recover their username and then set a password.
If it has been more than 28 days since you started the application, you can start another one.
I can’t log into the Organisation Portal
Following the new system launch, organisation usernames and passwords have changed.
To regain access:
- Go to Organisation Screening Portal login.
- Select Forgot your username/password.
- Follow the prompts to recover your account.
I need help using the Organisation Portal
There are step-by-step instructions in the ‘Help’ section of the Organisation Portal.
