Sign up for direct debit payments
Set up monthly, quarterly or annual direct debit payments for vehicle registration using your mySA GOV account.
Who is this for
Vehicle, motorbike, trailer and caravan owners who want to pay their registration by direct debit.
What you need
- a mySA GOV account
- at least one month's registration remaining on your vehicle
- a bank account or credit card.
When setting up a direct debit agreement you will be advised of the fees for monthly, quarterly or annual debits. You can also use our online calculator to calculate the renewal cost.
What happens next
Vehicle registration will be renewed each month, quarter or year as per the direct debit agreement. A registration certificate will be made available electronically through the mySA GOV account.
SMS or email reminders are sent before the direct debit is due so you can make sure there are enough funds in the account. If the payment fails for any reason, you'll receive an SMS or email so that you have time to make the payment before the registration expires. If you don't have sufficient funds in the nominated account on two consecutive occasions, you may be removed from the scheme and advised in writing to use an alternative payment channel.
Customers whose vehicles become ineligible for registration - eg due to becoming defected or them having outstanding fines - will also be unable to complete the registration transaction.
