Vehicle inspections

If your vehicle is declared a repairable write off as a result of the South Australia hail storm on 28 October 2021, you may be exempt from a tier 3 identity inspection and a roadworthy inspection.

Vehicles that received cosmetic hail panel damage only as a result of the storm on 28 October 2021 and have been declared a repairable write-off will only require a tier 2 identity inspection to have the write-off incident cleared.

If your vehicle received other damage, such as water or structural, it must undergo a tier 3 identity inspection and a roadworthy inspection before the write-off incident can be cleared.

Vehicles that have been notified as a repairable write-off cannot be driven on public roads unless:

  • it is being driven to and from a place of repair; or
  • it is being driven to and from a place for an inspection.
