Get your registration renewal notices by email or SMS, instead of by post.
We'll send you:
- a renewal notification 6 weeks before your registration expires
- a reminder 1–7 days before expiry — you can choose your preference
- a reminder 1 day after expiry if your registration hasn't been paid.
Switch to email or SMS renewals
Log in to mySAGOV using a browser — not the mobile app. Select Start now.
Follow these steps:
- Select Sign up for digital renewal notices in the Digital Renewal Notices section.
- Choose your notification preferences.
- Select Subscribe.
What happens next
Your email or SMS will include your payment number and a link to renew online.
You'll no longer receive paper renewal notices by post.
Email or SMS notifications will apply to all vehicles on your account. You can switch individual vehicles back to paper notices at any time.
If a vehicle is jointly owned, only the primary contact will receive notifications.
If you don't receive your notification, check your spam or junk folder.
Get a copy of your registration certificate or receipt
You can download a copy of your registration certificate or receipt from your account at any time.
Update your notification preferences
Update your email
You must follow all steps and verify your new email address to finish the update.
- Log in to mySAGOV using a browser - not the mobile app.
- Go to My account > Change email address.
- Enter your new email > Select Save.
- When prompted > Select Log in again.
- Log in again using your new email address - you'll be sent a verification link.
- Check your inbox and select Verify your email address.
- Return to your mySAGOV account > Select Back to EzyReg Account (top right).
Your new email address will now appear in your account.
Update your mobile
How you update your mobile number depends on how it's used in your account. You may need to complete one or both of the steps below.
For two-factor authentication (2FA)
If you still have access to your current device or mobile number:
- Log in to mySAGOV using a browser - not the mobile app.
- Select My account > Manage two-factor authentication.
- Select Remove, then Continue.
- Set up 2FA again using your new mobile number or another option.
The 6-digit code we send to your phone to verify that it’s you, protects your account from unauthorised access.
If you no longer have access to your device or mobile number, you'll need to recover your account instead.
For notification preferences
If you receive renewal notices or direct debit notifications by SMS:
- Log in to mySAGOV using a browser - not the mobile app.
- Select My account > Change mobile.
- Enter your new number and select Save.
- Text the verification code shown on screen to the number provided.
- Once verified, select Done.
Go back to paper notices
- Log in to mySAGOV using a browser — not the mobile app.
- Select Manage digital renewal notices in the Digital Renewal Notices section.
- Select Unsubscribe.
- Select Yes to confirm.
All future renewal notices will be sent by post.
