Permit conditions

Disability parking permits allow a vehicle to be parked in spaces where the international symbol of access is displayed.

Some parking spaces for permit holders will have time limits displayed on a sign.

Permits are only to be used when:

  • The vehicle is being used to transport the permit holder
  • The vehicle is being used by an organisation providing transport services to people with a disability
  • The permit is displayed so the permit number and expiry date are clearly visible from the exterior of the vehicle

Hang the permit from the rear vision mirror or display on the passenger side of the dashboard for clear visibility.

Parking concessions

Time limit concessions are available to disability parking permit holders.

Where no disability spaces are available or where a sign or meter shows a specific time limit, the following concessions apply for permit holders:

  • Less than 30 minutes, the time limit is 30 minutes
  • 30 minutes or more but less than one hour, the time limit is two hours
  • More than one hour, the time limit is double the period indicated
