Register a retirement village

    Village operators must register their retirement village with the Retirement Village Registrar (Office for Ageing Well) within 28 days of the first resident moving in. Penalties apply if this is not done.

    An operator cannot sign a residence contract until the land is endorsed for retirement village use on the Certificate of Title. Visit the Land Services SA website for more information.

    Register a retirement village

    When an operator registers a new retirement village, they must pay a fee based on the number of residences. Fees are listed in the registration form.

    Complete the Registration of a new retirement village form (45.4 KB DOCX) to register a new retirement village.

    What happens after registration and endorsement

    Once registered, the land must continue to be used as a retirement village until the scheme is terminated.

    Update the Retirement Villages Registry

    Village operators must notify the registrar within 28 days of any changes to the registry details.
