Transitional arrangements to support safeguarding ended 30 September 2022

The legislation for the South Australian Restrictive Practices scheme commenced on 30 May 2022. Thank you to the NDIS service providers that have joined up and are using the new authorisation scheme.

With the support of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, transitional arrangements were made to enable NDIS service providers to continue to report restrictive practices as authorised if a valid authorisation was in place as at 29 May 2022.  These arrangements supported providers to transition to the new scheme and to seek an authorisation from their authorised program officer or the senior authorising officer.

The transitional arrangements ended on 30 September 2022.

All NDIS service providers who provide supports and services to NDIS participants, and use regulated restrictive practices, must now obtain authorisation under this legislation or another Act.
