Important news

The legislation for the South Australian Restrictive Practices Authorisation scheme commenced on the 30 May 2022.

This legislation provides strong safeguards for people with disability.  The use of restrictive practices  must be authorised under this legislation , or another Act.

Transitional arrangement to support safeguarding

For the purposes of reporting to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, restrictive practices that are authorised in a behaviour support plan as at 29 May 2022 may continue to be reported to the Commission as authorised until an authorisation decision has been made under the SA Restrictive Practices Authorisation Scheme or 30 September 2022, whichever is earliest.

This transitional arrangement supports the safeguarding of NDIS participants while authorisation for restrictive practices is obtained under Part 6A of the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 or another Act.
