What is a place

You can find information about place names (map format) using the 'layer' function in the South Australian Property and Planning Atlas (SAPPA).

Expand the Place Names menu under Layers and chose from Dual Naming and/or Place Names (Gazetteer).

Place name data offered through SAPPA is drawn from Data SA datasets:

You can submit a request to assign or change the name of a geographical place.

Current naming proposals

Naming proposals are available through:

  • the government gazette
  • the local paper or The Advertiser

Emergency services, council and Australia Post are notified when a proposal is successfully completed.
