Planning ahead

Organ and tissue donation

Organ or tissue transplantation could mean a second chance at life for people with serious or life-threatening illnesses.

Registering on the Australian Organ Donor Register shows a clear decision about your wishes. You need to register even if your driver's licence says you intend to be an organ donor.

Registering is voluntary and you have complete choice over which organs and/or tissues you wish to donate.

Talk with your family about your decision so they know your intentions.

If you do not want to become an organ and tissue donor, you can register not to donate on the Donor Register.
