Apply for a proof of age card
You must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible for a proof of age card. It can take up to a month for you to get your card once you apply.
Before you start
To apply, you'll need to provide evidence of identity. This is a minimum of three documents that verify your identity, age, signature and residential address. If you have a photographic learner's permit or licence you may not need to supply full evidence of identity. A payment is required with the application.
How to apply
If you already have a driver's licence or learner's permit and your photo was taken less than 30 years ago, you can apply online.
Replacing a proof of age card
If your photo is less than 30 years old you can apply for a replacement proof of age card online
You can make a new application at a Service SA customer service centre.
You will need to provide evidence of identity. You may not need to supply full evidence of identity if you already have a photographic learner's permit or driver's licence.
There is a fee for replacing a proof of age card. Allow up to a month for your card to arrive in the mail.
A proof of age card does not expire.
