Apply to reconsider a barring order

If you’ve been barred from gambling, or you don’t agree with a licensee’s decision to bar someone, you can ask the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner to reconsider the barring.

The Commissioner will listen to both sides and then decide to:

·       keep the barring as it is

·       change the barring (this could mean making it longer), or

·       cancel the barring completely.

You must ask for this within 14 days of the barring being made.

Once the Commissioner makes a decision, it can’t be changed or appealed.

You'll need:

  • personal details of the person who has been barred
  • the date the decision was made to grant or refuse the barring
  • a copy of the barring order or details regarding the barring
  • reasons why you would like the barring reconsidered.

What happens next?

Once an application is submitted:

  • it's assigned to a senior gambling officer for review
  • a reconsideration hearing may be scheduled
  • the commissioner (or delegate) will consider all the information and decide to either confirm, vary or revoke the decision
  • the outcome will be provided to all parties in writing.
