If one or both of your SA standard issued number plates are damaged or worn, you can order replacement plates online. You'll keep the same plate number as your previous set.
There's a different process if your plates are lost or stolen.

To order online you'll need your:
- licence or client number
- plate number.

What happens next
When you order online, you can download the receipt or have it sent to a nominated email address.
You must keep a digital or paper copy of the receipt with you when driving your vehicle.
Plates will only be issued if the vehicle's registration is current.
Getting your plates by post
If your plates will be posted they should arrive in approximately 15 working days.
Getting your plates in person
If you're picking your plates up from Service SA, they will be ready in approximately 10 working days. Someone else can pick up the plates for you, as long as they have a digital or paper copy of the receipt.
You can hand in your old plates when you pick the new ones up, or at a later date.
