Replace damaged or worn number plates

If 1 or both of your SA standard issued number plates are damaged or worn, you can order replacement plates online. You'll keep the same plate number as your previous set.

There is a different process if your plates are lost or stolen.

Replace online

To order online you'll need your:

  • licence or client number
  • plate number.

Fee: $32

What happens next

Once your number plates have been ordered, you can continue to drive your vehicle provided you keep the receipt with you when driving.

Replacement number plates will be available to collect from your chosen Service SA centre or be posted, in approximately 10 working days.

If you're picking up your replacement number plates, you can hand in your old damaged or worn plates.

Plates will only be issued provided the registration of the vehicle is current.
