Product safety

While it’s your responsibility to make sure that any products you buy are used safely, and in line with any instructions and warnings supplied with them, you have the right to expect they will be fit for their intended purpose.

The Australian Consumer Law includes protections to make sure that any regulated product you buy is safe. In SA, Consumer and Business Services (CBS) regulates the safety of consumer goods and product-related services.

To report an unsafe consumer good or product-related service, contact the CBS Product Safety Unit via the contact details below.

For advice about your right to repair, replacement or refund if your goods are faulty, unsafe, or don’t work as they should:

Please note that CBS does not regulate the safety of specific types of products such as agriculture; boats and marine; chemicals, medicine and medical devices; electrical and gas appliances, food or vehicles.

For more information on product safety laws within Australia, visit the Product Safety Australia website.
