Proposals currently under assessment

Retirement villages and residential aged care facilities

The proposal

On 13 November 2017 the Minister for Planning revoked his declaration of 19 April 2017 making proposals for retirement villages and residential aged care facilities over $20 million a major development. A major development process would have ensured a rigorous assessment and consultation process.

Due to the community feedback on the applications the revocation was made to enable further community engagement on this matter. The consideration of how the new planning system will allow for improved living options for older South Australians, as well as designing the Planning and Design Code to meet the needs of the aged care sector, remains a priority for planning reform.
