Riverbank Health and Entertainment Areas amendment

Current status

The Riverbank Health and Entertainment Areas amendment (4.0 MB PDF) was approved by the Minister for Planning on Friday 11 October 2013.

Purpose of the amendment

This development plan amendment (DPA) proposes planning changes to allow for the construction and renewal of health, research and entertainment facilities and infrastructure along the Torrens Riverbank.

Area affected by the amendment

The DPA affects several areas adjacent to the River Torrens between the Adelaide Festival Plaza and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital site and along North Terrace. It includes changes to:

  • Institutional (Riverbank) Zone
  • Institutional (Metropolitan Hospital) Zone
  • Parklands Zone, River Torrens West Policy Area 24
  • Parklands Zone, Adelaide Oval Policy Area 25.

The development plan affected is the Adelaide (City) Development Plan.

Consultation process

Consultation on Ministerial DPAs is conducted by the Development Policy Advisory Committee (DPAC), an independent statutory committee which provides advice to the Minister for Planning.

Public consultation on the amendment closed on 10 September 2013. A public meeting was held on 17 September 2013.
