Getting a copy of your certificate of title
A certificate of title is an official record of land ownership in South Australia. You may need a copy of your certificate for various reasons including lodging development applications or applying for council approval for a pergola or extension.
A copy of a certificate of title is also called a register search.
Before you begin
You'll need to know one of these pieces of information about your property:
- title reference
- plan/parcel reference
- valuation number.
You can get your property's title reference or plan/parcel reference online through the Property Location Browser or from your council rate notice.
The fee payable for the 2017/2018 financial year is $28.25.
How to apply
- Go to SAILIS and search using property details.
- Confirm order and enter payment details.
- On completion, access the PDF using the link in the top right corner of the screen.
A title reference is often shown on rates notices in the format CT 5123/456. In SAILIS this reference is entered as:
- Reference: CT
- Volume: 5123
- Folio: 456
