Buying a home or property

Researching a property

You can do some research on a specific property to make sure you have all the information available to help you either buy or sell it. A fee may be payable for this information. If you are hiring a conveyancer they will research the property for you.

Finding a property's details

SAILIS can provide online information about land and property in South Australia for a fee. This is the authoritative and most up-to-date information available. It provides information for individual properties, including:

  • certificates of title
  • plans
  • ownership details
  • sales details
  • property details
  • the site and capital values
  • any constraints registered on the land - eg easements, heritage listings.

If you don't know the property's address or certificate of title reference number you can find this information through the Property Location Browser. This allows you to locate the property on a map and provides a property identifier that is usually a number or code.

House prices

Comparing house prices can give you a good idea of the price similar properties in similar areas have sold for and what you can expect to pay.  You can also check the median house sales prices at the Data SA portal. This a free search that shows the median house prices by local council areas over the last two years.
