The Aged Rights Advocacy Service (ARAS) aims to promote and protect the rights and well-being of older people, through the provision of information, education, support and representation. They also have a range of helpful publications. Phone ARAS on 1800 700 600.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission looks after the safety, health, well-being and quality of life of people receiving Australian Government funded aged care services. The website includes the following:
The Australian Government’s National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) provides free, confidential, and independent advocacy support to older people receiving or looking to access Australian Government funded aged care services. Elder abuse
The Australian Human Rights Commission 1800 ELDERHelp is the national elder abuse phone line 1800 353 374.
The Adult Safeguarding Unit responds to concerns of abuse in relation to adults vulnerable to abuse aged 65 years and over, and 50 years and over for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and adults living with disability. Anyone can call the Unit during business hours Monday to Friday, except public holidays, on 1800 372 310. From October 2022, the Unit will work with all adults who may be vulnerable to abuse.
