Australian Government assistance

The child support program provides information to help parents manage their financial child support responsibilities following separation or divorce. This includes an online child support assessment tool and ability to explore payments based on your situation.

State assistance

The Child Support Unit in the Legal Services Commission of South Australia offers a complete service to payers and payees for all child support and maintenance issues. The unit offers free legal advice and they can talk with you about:

  • parentage disputes
  • DNA testing
  • help to complete Child Support Agency forms
  • changing your child support assessment in special circumstances
  • child support agreements
  • objections and appeals
  • maintenance payments for adult children (over 18)
  • overseas child support
  • spousal maintenance.
