Making a complaint about an incorporated association

Anyone can make a complaint about an incorporated association if:

  • there is a breach of the Associations Incorporation Act 1985
  • there is a breach of the associations rules.

You must outline specific breaches of the law or the association’s rules.

What you’ll need

  • The incorporated associations registration number or name.
  • The nature of the complaint.
  • If relevant what section of the law or regulations, or the rules (constitution) has allegedly been breached.
  • Relevant supporting documents.

What happens next

Your complaint will be assigned to an assessment officer for review. They will contact you initially within 10 business days.
