List of trees that can be planted near powerlines

The Electricity (Principles of Vegetation Clearance) Regulations 2021 set limitations on the types of vegetation that can be planted near powerlines.

The limitations to planting near powerlines only apply within certain distances to the centreline of the powerlines. These distances depend on the voltage of the powerlines. See Planting trees near powerlines.

Species with a mature height of less than two metres such as flowers, vegetables, cereal crops, small bushes and shrubs are exempt from clearance requirements and can be planted near powerlines.
