Electricity entities must comply with important safety policies when switching high voltage electrical equipment.
They are legally required to prepare a detailed internal switching manual that includes safe work procedures for their staff and contractors, and for specific equipment.
Internal manuals must be developed in accordance with policies and safety principles set out in The Switching Manual (211.0 KB PDF) that is prepared and revised as required by the Switching Committee. The committee is made up of representatives of licensed South Australian electricity entities, a high voltage customer representative, and the Office of the Technical Regulator.
