Number plates and trade plates

Calculate trade plate fees

1. Choose your category

Find the category fee for your chosen category from table one and multiply by the number of years required - one, two or three years.

2. Find out your premium class

  • Go to the motor trade plate section of the compulsory third party insurance premium schedule (271.1 KB PDF).
  • Choose your category from the list and find the appropriate insurance rating district - district one or district two, with or without ITC entitlement.
  • Go to your premium class and multiply the amount by the number of years required.

3. Add lifetime support scheme levy

Using the premium class established at step 2, refer to table two to determine the annual amount of lifetime support scheme levy payable and multiply this amount by the number of years required.

The fees in table two are effective from 1 July 2017.

4. Add approval fee

If it's applicable, add the approval fee from table three.

5. Add administration fee

Add the applicable administration fee and plate fee from table four below.

6. Calculate all fees

Add all the fees from step one through to step six to calculate your total fee.
