There are a number of organisations that offer help to victims of road trauma and their families.
- South Australian Police - the first point of contact for reporting a crime or emergency. Victim contact officers are also available to provide support, advice and information to victims of crime.
- Victims of Crime SA - the commissioner helps victims in their dealings with the criminal justice system and public agencies.
- CTP insurance providers - each insurer has an experienced claims consultant who can help you claim compensation if your loved one has died in a road crash.
- CTP regulator - the CTP Regulator can help you if a loved one has died in a road crash
- Road Trauma Support Team - free counselling and support for people who have been affected by road trauma.
- Lifetime Support Authority - funds necessary and reasonable treatment, care and support for people who sustain serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident on South Australian roads.
- Anglicare SA Loss and Grief Service - provides individual or family counselling, information and resources, referrals, support groups, individual counselling and other programs for children.
- SA Health - information and help for people experiencing grief, and for people supporting a bereaved person.
- Solace - support for older people whose loss is recent, new members and those who are dealing with special anniversaries.
- Compassionate Friends - offers support in the grief and trauma which follows the death of a child at any age and from any cause.
- Lifeline - a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.
- Legal Services Commission - legal services - the Legal Services Commission provides advice and access to legal services for those who can't afford to pay for private legal representation.
- Law Society - legal referral service - the Law Society of South Australia can connect you with a range of South Australian lawyers and law firms able to provide legal advice and assistance.
- Aboriginal Legal Rights Movements - provides free legal information, advice and representation to Aboriginal people. For victims of crime they can also provide support around victims’ compensation.
Support for children and young people
- Kids Helpline - a free 24-hour counselling service for Australian children and young people aged 5-25 years.
