Renew trade plates

A renewal notice will be posted to you 42 days before the expiry date.

Complete the renewal notice and take it to a Service SA centre.

A trade plate may be renewed for 1, 2 or 3 years.

To renew a trade plate, you must have received approval to be issued a trade plate within the last 6 months.

If you have not received approval within this time, an application for issue of trade plates (167.5 KB PDF) must be completed and presented with the renewal.

Period of issue

A trade plate may be issued for 1, 2 or 3 years. A certificate and label will be issued to you when all the requirements are completed.

Conditions

It is an offence to use a trade plate on a category of vehicle that is not recorded on the certificate and label that is issued to you.

The Motor Vehicle Regulations 2010 detail the purposes for which a trade plate may be used.
