Replace driver's licence following Optus data breach

If your driver's licence details were compromised through the Optus data breach, you can replace your licence and have a new licence number issued.

Anyone who has been notified by Optus that their licence details were compromised should apply as soon as possible. Customers whose licence number and card identification number were both released are at the greatest risk of identity fraud.

All cards issued by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) that include your licence/client number will be replaced, including:

  • driver's licence or learner's permit
  • driver accreditation
  • motor driving instructor licence
  • proof of age card.

How to apply

Customers whose licence is expired, disqualified or suspended must attend in person to have their licence number changed.

Online

This option is only for users with a verified mySAGOV account (your account shows your registration and licence details).

You’ll receive an email once processing is complete and a new licence card will be posted to your address on file.

In person

Go to a Service SA centre or Service SA agent (excluding Port MacDonnell and Port Broughton) with:

A new licence number will be issued immediately.

What happens next

A new licence card will be posted to you once your licence number has been changed. A digital version will be available immediately through your mySAGOV account and on the mySAGOV app.

Operator accreditation

To have your operator accreditation certificate replaced, phone the Accreditation and Licensing Centre (ALC) on 7109 8117.
