You must pass the Motor Driving Instructor (MDI) theory test.
The MDI theory test is broken into 2 parts. The first includes eight give-way questions. You must obtain a pass mark of 100% for the give-way questions.
The remainder of the assessment is general road rules, road craft, and MDI roles and obligations. You must achieve a minimum of 95% for these general questions.
Evidence that the MDI theory test has been successfully completed within the last 12 months must be submitted as part of the MDI application.
Booking an MDI theory test
To book, phone Service SA on 13 10 84.
- You must pay a $98 fee when you attend the Service SA centre for your booking. The fee is charged each time you attempt the test.
- Test bookings can be made at specific Service SA centres between 9:30 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday. Our Elizabeth and Marion centres also offer test bookings on Saturdays.
