The State Bicycle Fund is an annual competitive subsidy scheme that provides dollar-for-dollar financial assistance to councils in South Australia to develop and implement local cycling initiatives. It's run by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
The fund aims to encourage cycling, increase community connectivity, improve road safety, public health and air quality, and reduce carbon emissions.
Applying for the State Bicycle Fund
Projects eligible for the State Bicycle Fund include:
- concept design of a cycling infrastructure project and cost estimation to seek investment for further design development
- detailed design of a cycling infrastructure project and cost estimation which may then be used to seek investment for construction
- construction of a cycling infrastructure project (may include some design).
