Running a business

Funding and grants for business

The federal and state governments and, in some cases, local councils provide business grants and funding programs from time to time. Few government grants apply to starting a business and they are competitive or only available for specific circumstances.

Find a business grant

Many grants and assistance relevant to your business are listed in the state government's search tool, GRANTassist.

GRANTassist lists both state and federal government grants and programs.

Small Business Development Fund

The Small Business Development Fund helps small businesses in northern Adelaide to grow and create sustainable jobs.

Workforce training

Assistance is available from WorkReady for the skilling or re-training of a business's workforce.

Innovation for start-ups

Innovation for start-ups is funded by the state government and delivered through the private company Innovyz.

Regional development programs

Through Regions SA, the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) manages several ongoing programs to assist regional South Australian businesses and communities.
