If you have a current security licence in South Australia, you can register to receive electronic notices so you get regular updates relevant to the industry.
Digital licences
You can download your licence or registration to an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet using the mySAGOV app.
Once registered in the app, press the '+' button in the top right corner, select your 'occupational licence' type, then enter the licence/registration number requested along with your client ID.
Your client ID can be found in the Consumer and Business Services licence register.
Hard copy licences will still be issued and it's a good idea to carry these with you until digital licences become widely accepted.
Renew your licence
You must renew your licence every 12 months. You'll receive an email when your licence is due for renewal or you can renew your licence online.

Interstate licence holders
Individual workers and contractors (not companies) who hold interstate or overseas licences for occupations that are regulated by Consumer and Business Services (CBS) may be able to apply to have their licence recognised in South Australia (SA).
Moving to SA
If SA becomes the main place where you live and work you must apply for a licence in SA through regular mutual recognition arrangements. Apply Now
You must include copies of all current interstate licences (front and back of card) with your application.
The online form includes a Statutory Declaration page that must be signed in front of an authorised witness. Upload the completed form to your application.
Temporarily working in SA
If you plan to work in SA but will mainly continue to live or work interstate, you can use your current interstate licence or registration in SA. This is called automatic mutual recognition or JobPass.
You must notify CBS before starting any work in SA using the online form.
There's no fee to notify. While working in SA you must comply with the same conduct and technical requirements as SA licensees.

Businesses or events that employ crowd controllers must keep a register.
Surrender your licence
You can surrender your licence if you no longer need to be licensed in SA.
If you are a non-active partner, you don't need to be licenced. If you are in a limited partnership contact CBS for advice on how to remove the limited partnership condition. Please check the back of both licence cards to see if this applies to you and your partner.
Changes that affect your licence
Notify Consumer and Business Services within 14 days if you have committed an offence or have had legal restrictions placed on your work or business, such as bankruptcy, financial receivership, suspended or disqualified work licence.
You'll also need to advise CBS when you:
- change your address - you can also update your address when you renew your licence.
- surrender your licence
- have lost or damaged cards or certificates
- change directors in the company
- change managers.
