Livestock property registration

Property registration is mandatory under the Livestock Act 1997. Property identification codes (PICs) are used in a national register of livestock locations and manager contact details in  the event of an exotic disease outbreak such as equine influenza and other emergencies affecting animals, including bushfires. They are also used in combination with the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) and the various species brands - pigs, sheep and cattle.

Registering property

Find out more about property identification codes on the PIRSA website. You can find out if you need to register your property, check registration fees and download a property registration application form. The form can also be used to cancel, renew or amend a property registration.
