Energy efficient commercial buildings

Energy efficiency requirements for commercial buildings are prescribed in the Building Code of Australia.

The primary objective of the requirements is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in all new buildings by efficiently using energy.

The minimum requirements address:

  • the building fabric
  • glazing
  • building sealing
  • air-conditioning and ventilation systems
  • artificial lighting and power
  • hot water supply
  • access for maintenance.
