Privacy statement - mySA GOV app

This statement sets out this application's policies relating to the privacy and security of your personal information and security of your other information. This privacy and security statement applies only to the mySA GOV app.

This app is operated in compliance with the Government of South Australia's information privacy principles (IPPs), a copy of which can be obtained on the Department of the Premier and Cabinet website. How we collect and handle your personal information is subject to the South Australian government’s IPPI. We will take reasonable security measures to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or other misuse. We will ensure personal information is stored securely, not kept longer than necessary, and disposed of appropriately. Strong data encryption mechanisms are also used to protect your personal information during data transmission and when your data is stored.

When mySA GOV app users validate passes or are validated (a user initiated action), then high level identifying information such as a first initial and surname will be stored as part of the validation history by the other party as a record of the validation. No information such as client number, date of birth, address, location data or photo will be collected.

The mySA GOV app will collect and use limited personal information to support SA Health in conducting contact tracing in the event a person tests positive to COVID-19.

The information collected via the app when you check-in to a venue is encrypted immediately, and transferred and stored on a secure server within Australia. It is not available to the venue. The information is limited to the date and time, your full name, mobile phone number, and the venue.

The information is used solely by SA Health for contact tracing purposes. The information will be destroyed within 28 days unless required for contact tracing during that period. If used for contact tracing the information will only be retained as long as necessary for those purposes, and for no longer than the COVID-19 pandemic remains.

The Government of South Australia retains the email address of people who email myaccountassistance@sa.gov.au so that we can send a response. This information is stored in a secure area within the Government of South Australia's message services system and will not be used for any other purpose, nor disclosed without your consent.

Such information may or may not be personal information for the purpose of the IPPs. Nonetheless, you consent to the use of this information to establish ownership of the material and to enable site administrators to contact website administrators/content owners, to confirm (or not) the website registration and advise them of the link being published on this site. The information is then kept for contact purposes in the course of monitoring site currency. The information is stored in a secure area of the site's system.

Your personal information will not be disclosed to a third party except in accordance with the IPPs and under the Freedom of Information Act.

Site administrators are required to protect and handle your personal information in accordance with the IPPs.

The mySA GOV app requires access to the device's camera in order to scan QR codes used for COVID-SAfe check-in, and to scan the validation barcodes on other users' digital licences if you choose to do so. No photo or video information is sent to or stored on servers.

This app and the Government of South Australia are responsible for the privacy and security of information while it is stored on or passing through this site. The Government of South Australia agencies and instrumentalities are responsible for the privacy and security of information collected by, stored on or passing through their own websites.

You should note that there are inherent risks associated with transmission of information via the internet. You should make your own assessment of the potential risks to the security of your information when making a decision as to whether or not you should use this site. There are alternative ways to obtaining information from and transacting business with the Government of South Australia for those users who do not wish to use the internet.

This app contains links that are included on the basis of containing content relevant to the South Australian community, business or government. When a user clicks on a link and leaves the app, this privacy and security statement no longer applies.

The content of this privacy and security statement may be updated from time to time, so we suggest that if you return to this site on a regular basis you carefully read the information provided.
