Public transport companion cards

People with permanent and severe disabilities can apply for either the Plus One FREE COMPANION card or the Companion Card. Holders are able to travel on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services throughout metropolitan Adelaide accompanied by a carer. While the Plus One Free Companion Card holder must be in possession of a valid Metrocard, single or day trip ticket and concession card (if applicable) the companion/carer can travel free of charge.

The cards have different eligibility criteria and application process.

Before you apply

You may need help from a general practitioner, medical specialist or mobility instructor to complete the application.

You will need one passport-sized colour photograph (head and shoulders), which must be certified by a responsible person who:

  • is 18 years of age
  • has known the applicant for at least 12 months
  • is not related to the applicant by birth or marriage
  • is not in a de facto relationship with the applicant (this includes a same sex relationship)
  • does not live at the applicant's address.

3. Outcome 

You will be notified by mail whether or not your application is successful.

Successful applicants will receive information explaining how to use the card and a photo-identiļ¬cation card that must be carried when using public transport.
