The Playford Urban Growth Areas (Angle Vale, Playford North Extension and Virginia) and General Sections amendment was split into four parts by the Minister for Planning:
Approval of Part 4 now completes the rezoning of land in the Playford Urban Growth Area for urban purposes. Land zoned 'Deferred Urban' through the DPA can still be considered for future urban use but only subject to a further rezoning process through separately initiated Development Plan Amendment and on the basis of agreed infrastructure contributions.
The development plan amendments (DPAs) are part of a larger structure plan proposed under the Playford growth project.
They provide for zoning changes to accommodate future population and employment growth in the cities of Playford and Salisbury. This re-zoning also will be implemented through the Greater Edinburgh Parks Employment Lands DPA.
The DPAs and the structure plan allow for an additional 100,000 people and 38,000 houses over the next 30 years. They indicate where new housing, commercial, industrial and community land uses will be located, and what infrastructure and services are needed to support them.
These facts sheets provide maps details about the individual growth areas covered by the amendments and their relationship to the structure plan:
The development plan affected is the Playford Council Development Plan.
The consultation on the original Playford Urban Growth Areas (Angle Vale, Playford North Extension and Virginia) and General Sections amendment - 23.5 MB was part of a parallel consultation on the structure plan, which included displays, open house sessions and ways to stay informed about the project development.
Consultation on Ministerial DPAs is conducted by the Development Policy Advisory Committee (DPAC), an independent statutory committee which provides advice to the Minister for Planning.
Public consultation on the amendment closed on 2 August 2013. A public meeting was held on 3 September 2013.
