Proposals currently under assessment

Retirement villages and residential care facilities

The proposal

Recognising South Australia and Greater Adelaide's ageing population, and the State's aspiration to be a global leader in health and ageing, the Minister for Planning has declared proposed retirement villages and residential care and associated facilities valued over $20 million as being eligible for major development status.

This decision will enable a whole of government assessment process to be undertaken on qualifying proposals.

This declaration is currently for a period until 30 June 2018. Any proposals submitted during this period will be required to prepare a document that responds to Guidelines set by the Development Assessment Commission. This document will be released for public consultation, where the community can provide feedback and comment. Any feedback/comments received will be considered in the final decision-making process.

Individual proposals will be listed on this page as they are submitted.
