The Northgate Development Plan Amendment (DPA) - was approved by the Minister for Planning by notice in the South Australian Gazette on 15 November 2012.
Purpose of the amendment
The DPA amends land use policy in an area of the Northgate suburb. It replaces existing zones and associated policy areas with a new Suburban Neighbourhood Zone. The new zone allows for increased densities, a greater mix of land uses and improved integration between residential, non residential and open space uses in the area.
Area affected by the amendment
The amendment affects all land bounded by Hampstead Road, Redward Avenue, Fosters Road and Folland Avenue, as well as with the land occupied by the Northgate Shopping Village. The area includes:
- the Lightsview development
- the former Ross Smith Secondary School site
- the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre
- Lot 152 at the corner Folland Avenue and Hampstead Road.
Consultation on Ministerial DPAs is managed by the Development Policy Advisory Committee (DPAC), an independent statutory committee which provides advice to the Minister for Planning.
Public consultation closed on 4 July 2012, and a public meeting was held on 26 July 2012.
