Getting a copy of your certificate of title

A certificate of title is an official record of land ownership in South Australia. You may need a copy of your certificate for various reasons including lodging development applications or applying for council approval for a pergola or extension.

A copy of a certificate of title is also called a register search.

Before you begin

You'll need to know one of these pieces of information about your property:

  • address
  • title reference
  • plan/parcel reference
  • valuation number.

You can get your property's title reference or plan/parcel reference online through the Property Location Browser or from your council rate notice.

Fee

The fee payable for the 2016/2017 financial year is $27.75.

How to apply

Online

  1. Go to SAILIS and search using property details.
  2. Confirm order and enter payment details.
  3. On completion, access the PDF using the link in the top right corner of the screen.

A title reference is often shown on rates notices in the format CT 5123/456. In SAILIS this reference is entered as:

  • Reference: CT
  • Volume: 5123
  • Folio: 456
