Residential tenancy information sessions

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) offer free, two-hour information sessions to help tenants, landlords and agents understand their rights and responsibilities relating to private rental tenancies.

Residential Bonds Online (RBO) - for agents only

The RBO information session offers practical instruction for agents to manage bonds online. The session covers:

  • registering as a real estate agency
  • lodging a cash bond
  • lodging a guarantee bond
  • lodging guarantee and cash bond
  • making a part payment and adding a tenant
  • adding or removing a tenant from a bond
  • changing ownership of a bond
  • changing management of a bond
  • refunding a bond
  • completing a rent roll.

Sessions are scheduled when sufficient enrolments are received. CBS will let you know the date, location and details of the next available session

Private rental tenancies - for agents, landlords, tenants and tenant support workers

The private rental tenancies information session offers a practical introduction to rights and responsibilities in a private rental property. The session covers:

  • types of leases
  • additional conditions and exclusions
  • lodging and refunding a bond
  • Inspection sheets
  • water
  • rent records
  • right of entry
  • maintenance and repairs
  • lease breaches
  • ending a tenancy.

Enrolments have closed for 2017 and will open again early 2018.
