You may be eligible for assistance through the scheme if you:
Under this scheme, once every two years, you and each listed dependent may be entitled to either:
While the scheme only covers basic spectacle frames, you can upgrade your frames or lenses at your own cost.
Where clinically justified, the scheme provides assistance to reduce the cost of contact lenses.
If your optometrist certifies that your vision has changed significantly, you may be eligible for additional lenses within a two year period.
Apply through a participating optometrist or ophthalmologist (eye specialist). Many optometrists in South Australia participate in the scheme. If you are eligible for a subsidy through the scheme, you will be billed the reduced amount for your spectacles by your optometrist.
