School hours

Contact your school for its opening hours because they vary between schools. In most cases they are set by principals in consultation with staff, school boards or school councils.

Outside school hours

Students are under supervision for a short time outside the normal teaching period. This is usually no more than 20 minutes before the school opens and after it closes.

Students should not be on school grounds outside of this time. Exceptions include students who:

Check with your school to see if it runs an OSHC program.

Parents who are running late to pick up their child should let the school know as soon as possible.

Trespassing on school grounds

Under the Education and Children's Services Act 2019 it is an offence for an unauthorised person to trespass on government school grounds. Maximum penalty: $2 500.

If you see someone that you think is trespassing on school grounds phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Your information will be given to SA Police and you can remain anonymous.
