Ethnic schools

Ethnic schools are non-profit, language and culture centres that are available to anyone.

Visit The Ethnic Schools Association to view a list of ethnic schools and the languages they teach.

About 100 ethnic schools in South Australia teach a total of 49 languages after hours. They provide a minimum of 2 hours of lessons each week to:

  • teach language skills
  • maintain the various cultures of Australian communities
  • promote cultural understanding and harmony.

Students are generally of school-age however a number of ethnic schools also provide lessons for preschoolers and adults.
