Conditions of operation
Roadworthiness
Since 1 August 2020, the requirement for Restricted Access Vehicles to undergo an annual inspection, or to be in the Maintenance Module of the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme, no longer applies. Inspection labels are also no longer required. Refer to the Heavy Vehicle Inspection page for further details.

Medical certificates
There is no longer a requirement for every driver of a B-double or road train operating south of Port Augusta to carry a current medical certificate.
While drivers of heavy vehicles in South Australia are not all required to carry a current medical certificate, a current medical certificate may still be required:
- to meet the requirements of the NHVAS Fatigue Management module, or
- to meet the requirements of their driver's licence as administered under the Motor Vehicles Act 1959.

Warning signs for combinations longer than 22 m
Warning signs for heavy vehicle is defined under schedule 3, part 3 of the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation.
Clarification as to the signage requirements for vehicle combinations longer than 22 m can be found in the NHVR's Vehicle Standards Guide 19 - Vehicle warning signs.

Assembly and disassembly yards in South Australia are privately owned and access to these yards must be negotiated with the owners of the facility.
