Day activities, sport and recreation

There are many day activities and recreational opportunities available for people with disability in South Australia. These include activities for people who have recently left school, and for people who are not working full-time.

Local council

A good place to find nearby activities is your local council.

Companion Card

The South Australian Companion Card is for people with lifelong disability who require constant attendant care. When the cardholder buys a ticket for themselves at a participating venue, their carer has free entry to the same event.

A cardholder with a valid metro ticket can also bring a carer on public transport. The carer travels free.

Disability gateway

Use the Australian government's disability gateway to find out about sporting groups and programs, holidays and going out, community programs, and social activities.

Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing

The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing works with state sporting organisations, and government and non-government agencies to support the inclusion of people with disability in sport.

Volunteering

Volunteering can provide the chance to meet new people, share knowledge and experience and learn new skills.

Before you become a volunteer, you may need a screening check. These checks are free for South Australian volunteers.
