Use this form to apply for a licence to purchase explosives, including marine flares, fireworks, and propellants for use and/or resale. Company applications are handled by the Licensing Clerk, Dangerous Substances Branch. Application by an individual should be accompanied by a Police Clearance made through a local Police Station and then forwarded to the Licensing Clerk, Dangerous Substances Branch. The licence is valid for 1 year.

A Magazine Licence is required for the storage of explosives exceeding 60 kg. A licence granted shall be issued to the applicant and is not transferable, and only valid for 1 year.

[07] This licence is required for the transport by road of explosives. It is not required for the carriage of Classes 1.3G, 1.4G, or 1.4S explosives, eg party poppers, Christmas crackers or safety fuse. A licence may be granted only to the owner to whom it is issued, for the vehicle specified and for the quantity of explosive stated. These licences are not transferable.

[07] A manufacture licence, permits the manufacture of specified explosives (not all classes of explosives). All explosives manufactured must be classified by the Dangerous Substances Section. A licence is granted to the occupier of the factory and shall be valid only for that occupier and only in respect of the site specified in the licence and is not transferable.

Use this form to apply to SafeWork SA for a licence to mix and use ammonium nitrate. If explosive is stored overnight, a licence to Store on Premises or in a magazine will be required. A licence granted is valid only for the person to whom it is issued, is not transferable and is valid for the place or places and for the particular Ammonium Nitrate mixture specified in the licence, for 1 year.

This licence is required for the storage of explosives in quantities exceeding 3 kg and up to 60 kg. The licence will be valid for 1 year only for the person to whom it is issued and for the premises in respect of which it is issued and is not transferable. A Magazine licence will be required for the storage of explosives exceeding 60 kg.
