2/06/2009 5:55:22 PM [DI-09] To comply with the Births, Deaths and Marriages' Access Policy, all marriage certificates must be applied for by at least one of the parties involved in the marriage, or a child of both parties. Written authorisation from any of the above mentioned persons applies to other applicants. Applications can be submitted online via the OCBA website or order forms can be downloaded in PDF format. Forms are also available from Service SA Customer Service Centres and South Australian Bill Paying Post Offices, or from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Office. Current identification (ie not expired and showing current address) is required for all applications.

2/06/2009 5:55:27 PM [07] The registration of a Marriage is a legal requirement and the marriage celebrant will forward the necessary papers to the Registration Office of Business and Consumer Affairs. A marriage certificate is not automatically issued and can be applied for either on-line or by completing an application form and paying the appropriate fee.

2/06/2009 5:55:26 PM [07] To enable a marriage to take place, a Notice of Intended Marriage form is to be completed and provided to the authorized celebrant who will be conducting the marriage. The celebrant then forwards the form to the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages after the marriage ceromony to register the marriage. The form is to be lodged at least 1 month and 1 day and not more than 18 months before the date of the marriage
